Out to Breakfast
We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny San Diego day so we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and go out to our favorite breakfast spot The Potato Shack. I have been really reluctant to go out to eat with Casey because I am scared that she will get fussy during the meal however she did great. She was very content sitting in the infant carrier and looking around while we enjoyed our breakfast and then she especially liked sitting with dad after breakfast while he enjoyed the rest of his coffee. I have such a good baby!

Happy Birthday Cheyne!
Today is Cheyne's 13th birthday, she is a big teenager now. To celebrate Paul, Cheyne, and her friend Kiana decided to brave the rainy weather yesterday and go to Disneyland. We outfited them with ponchos, courtesy of my mom and they were off bright and early. The great thing about visiting Disneyland in the rain is the lines are really short. They had a great time, happy birthday Cheyne!
Casey is in the background wishing that she was old enough to go too.

Ginga
We got a special treat this past week, we had Paul's mom Sue (Ginga) come stay with us. She was out here from Flagstaff enjoying a little vacation away from the snow and spending time with her grand children. Casey loved having her here, she showed off her kicking skills and charmed Ginga with her smiles and coos. I loved having the company and the help, I actually got a chance to go for my first run since baby, which left me sore for the rest of the week...I guess you have to start somewhere though. Thanks Ginga for visiting, we can't wait for you to come back again, I am sure Casey will have a whole bunch of new tricks to show you.

Bath Time Oopsy
This week was a bath time first for me...I am not so sure it was a first for Casey. When I give Casey a bath it is a very calculated affair. I try and always time it so it is not directly after a feeding so she has time to digest and I make sure it is not too close to when she needs to eat again because I don't want her to get fussy in the water. I think that this is the best way to keep the surprises to a minimum however as I have learned in the past 2 months with my Casey surprises are inevitable. This week I caught her going to the bathroom in her bath water...ahhhh...so after my initial freak out I re-gained my composure and even though we were practically done we had to start all over from scratch. Casey thankfully had a smile on the whole time.

2 Month Check Up
Yesterday was Casey's 2 month check up at the doctor. She now weighs 11 pounds 14 ounces and measures 23 1/4 inches long. She also got her first shot yesterday. I worried about this all weekend but she ended up doing great, she didn't even cry. That is my tough girl. It did however make her very sleepy and she slept from the time we got home until it was time to go to bed....of course.

2 Months Old Already
Casey is 2 months old today, I can't believe it, time seems to be racing by. She has changed so much this past month not only in her personality but in her appearance as well. Her hair looks a little lighter and her eyes now look undeniably blue (yay something else like me). I still do think she looks mostly like Paul but there are certain looks that she has that are definitely Karey looks.
She is a great baby that loves kicking her legs, her swing, and her bouncy chair. She now tracks things with her eyes, loves looking at lights, loves making lots of noise (mostly cute baby sounds) and she is smiling more and more everyday. She is not the best night time sleeper so I am hoping that improves this next month...I have long forgotten what a full nights sleep is like. I consider myself extremely lucky on the nights where she gives me a 4 or 5 hour stretch of sleep but mostly she wakes up every 3 hours to eat. She is a big girl, I think she weighs about 12 pounds, I will find out for sure on Tuesday when she goes for her 2 month check up. I am not looking forward to this as she will get her first shot at this appointment.
She got all decked out in pink and red today for Valentine's Day. We went for a long walked and enjoyed the return of our beautiful San Diego weather. And she got her first Valentine's Day present from her dad. Happy Valentine's day and happy 2 months sweet girl!

Finally Awake During a Playdate!
Last week we had another playdate with Madelyn and for the first time Casey managed to stay awake for it. But with her being awake it prompted a new problem I hadn't experienced yet...posing for pictures became a bit more challenging. What you don't see in these pictures is Casey's flailing arms hitting poor Madelyn in the face (her first girl fight). Then there was the challenge of getting them not to knock each other over which is captured in the last picture. The photo shoot ended with a minor head trauma when during an attempt to reposition them their heads banged together a little harder then they were ready for which left me feeling a little bit like a crazy stage mom...not to worry though they were both fine.

My Little Bath Bear
Last night was a great night, Casey slept for 6 hours straight yay! When we got up I went to change her diaper and thought it was odd that she hadn't peed at all...that should have been a warning for what was about to happen, yep you guessed it, right as I pulled the dirty diaper away niagra falls...wait no it was more like old faithful, the geyser, shooting water in the air. I had no idea pee could come out with such velocity and it just kept coming. I scrambled around trying to cover her but the damage was already done. Everything was soaked and as I looked down at my precious daugther she gave me the biggest smile...how could I do anything but laugh, I guess it was a good thing I had gotten a good night's sleep. We went straight to bath time and afterward I put on her bear bath towel suit to keep her warm and she just looked so cute and cozy I decided to let her hang out in it while I ate breakfast.

Daddy's Little Girl
There is a long standing argument in house on whether Casey is going to be a soccer player or a softball player. Of course I am in favor of soccer but Paul is die hard about softball. This weekend I put Casey in her Lil Bit Sporty fishing shirt and couldn't resist giving her a toy softball to complete her daddy's little girl look. When I showed Paul the pictures he got so excited he wanted to run out and buy her some catcher's gear.
