Casey's New Ride

This week we are taking a little family vacay up to Sequoia National Park so I went to one of my favorite website's Craiglist and found this awesome baby backpack carrier for Casey. We took it for a little test run around the block and she loved it.

Casey is Ready for Summer

It was really hard getting this flower to stay without hair...I wish her hair would hurry up and grow already.

Play Time at 6 Months

It is truly amazing how much Casey has changed in the last 6 months not only in appearance but in activity level. Play time is now one of her favorite things...it has even surpassed the swing and during play time she is a wild woman rolling, spinning, reaching, grabbing...I think crawling is not far away.

Father's Day at the Fair

This year for Father's Day Paul wanted to go to the fair with his girls.

And what is a trip to the fair without eating your weight in fried food. This year I was determined to eat the creme de la creme of fried food: deep fried butter...it was amazing! For those of you unfamiliar, it is butter dipped in a churro type batter, covered in cinnamon, sugar, and whipped cream...is was a greasy, buttery, bite of deliciousness.
Casey on the other hand stayed away from all the fried stuff and stuck to eating her book...and milk of course. One surprising thing I found at the fair is that they have a separate room in the information center just for breastfeeding mothers so we were able to escape the loud, craziness when it was really time for Casey to eat.

I think the whole weekend caught up with her last night because in the middle of playing on the floor she rolled over and zonked out and she ended up sleeping 8 hours straight which is her longest stretch yet.

Casey's First Swim

This weekend we decided to take Casey for her first swim in Grandma's pool. We started out in the jacuzzi and I think she just had no idea what was going on. Then she moved into the pool with daddy and start kicking and splashing. Paul got a little daring and tried dunking her under but she was clearly not ready for that and she let him know. I think that she is going to really love the pool this summer.

Sweet Potatoes

Casey is getting a lot better with her solids. Yesterday we introduced a new vegetable, the sweet potato. I wanted to buy the orange sweet potatoes but bought the white by mistake, I guess the white ones aren't as sweet. I made them anyway and I really think Casey enjoyed them, in fact I think they are her favorite.

Nappy Time

Butternut Squash

I have decided that I am going to try and make my own baby food for Casey. I figured that as long as it is not too difficult it will be nice to know exactly what Casey is eating and also it is a lot cheaper than buying it. Today I made my first batch, butternut squash. Many of things that I have read say to start with vegetables and Casey's pediatrician recommended starting specifically with the orange vegetables because those tend to be sweeter and more widely liked by babies. The making of the food was really easy however getting Casey to eat it was another story. I don't know whether it was the taste or the new texture that Casey didn't like but there was a lot of gagging during her feeding. We will keep trying.

My Big 6 Month Old!

Casey turned 6 months old today...oh where does the time go, I can't believe she is half a year old already. She is 16lbs 3 oz and in the 60th percentile for weight but what is really impressive is that she is 27 inches long and in the 90th percentilefor length...where does that height come from?

This past month has been a blast. I really think every month keeps getting more and more fun. In addition to starting her on solids this month she has started sleeping in her crib, we just started jogging together, and she is almost sitting up on her own. She now seems aware of everything around her and wants to grab EVERYTHING and put it in her mouth...including Jake's tail. She has also started making lots of different noises but two of her favorites are fake coughing and one that is hard to describe other than very loudly hyperventilating. She makes me laugh everyday and I really can't wait to see what she is going to do next.

Baby Legs

A friend of mine clued me in on the greatest baby invention, the baby legs. The baby legs are fun leg warms that are super easy to put on when it gets cold. I love them so much I bought 3 pairs already. Casey had fun posing for a little baby legs photo shoot this week.

What the photo shoot is over?
