Sequoia National Park - Day 2: The Congress Trial and Morro Rock

On day 2 of our trip we got an early start and headed up into the Park to the Giant Forest. The Sequoia's were amazing.

This is a cross section of a fallen tree.

The General Sherman is the largest living tree by volume on Earth.

This is a branch that fell off the General Sherman.

After seeing the General Sherman we went for a hike on the Congress Trail and shortly into the hike we had our first bear sighting. The bear was pretty far away and had no interest in us.

Below is a group of Giant Sequoia called the Senate, Cheyne and Nick are in the picture too.

At one point Casey got fussy in her backpack so Cheyne carried her...she ended up carrying her for probably about a mile.

This group of trees was called the house, there was also one tree by itself called the president but we didn't get a picture of that.

Casey ended up falling alseep while Cheyne was carrying her, she loves her big sister.

After the Congress trail we headed the Morro Rock.

And had yet another bear sighting, this time we were in the car.

Morro Rock.

We hiked all the way to the top almost 7000 ft above sea level.

Casey wasn't tired at all.

From the top you could see a prescribed fire that is burning under control in the park. They set this fire on purpose to help rejuvenate the soil.

After our hike up the rock we took a guided drive through the fire.

Quite an eventful day.
